Improve NY Foster Care, Take the NYTD Survey

  • aging out, nytd, national youth in transition database

NYTD stands for the National Youth in Transition Database and the goal of the project is to see if the New York State foster care system is preparing youth to live independently after they age out of care.

The way it works is pretty simple:

  • Youth are surveyed starting at age 17 until they turn 21 to see what services they use or need the most

  • When eligible youth complete the survey, they'll receive a $15 gift card from NYTD

The current NYTD survey period is focused on 17-year-old youth. The eligibility period ends September 30, 2017, so if you (or youth you know) want to help improve the system by taking the survey, don't wait.  Here are the rules for participating:

  1. You need to be in New York State foster care on the day you turn 17

  2. You need to take the survey within 45 days of turning 17. For example, if your birthday is October 1st, then you need to participate before November 16th.

You can take the survey online, print it out to take a paper version or even take it over the phone by calling toll-free (844) 220-5887.
