The Dalai Lama said, “One small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day.” As a foster youth, I developed a specific way to end my night positively, and I continue to use it as an adult. Before bed, I think to myself, “Tomorrow is a new day.” Doing this when I wake up gives me a fresh chance to be a better version of myself than I was yesterday. Using this daily affirmation has taught me to look forward to a new day and start my mornings with the energy to work toward what is best for me.

Positive affirmations can be a part of your everyday life, too. Try the 10 affirmations below to help start a positive day!

  1. I am beautiful inside and out.
  2. I am worthy of love and respect.
  3. I am smart and can understand everything I learn.
  4. I am a good communicator and can express myself safely.
  5. I listen to my friends and family and help them when they need it.
  6. I choose friends who are there for me and make me feel safe.
  7. I am responsible and accountable for my actions.

It’s not too late to start making affirmations a part of your daily routine by starting with the ones above.
