Staying active in the winter

When it gets cold, it can be hard to resist hibernation. It is much easier to stay inside and snuggle up with a blanket! Humans were not made to hibernate though, and it is important that you stay active to maintain your mental health. Staying active can improve sleep, reduce anxiety, and has  many other health benefits!

Here are some ways to help you stay active:

  • Get an accountability partner
  • Use local trails to go for a nature walk
  • Play in the snow
  • Find a workout class online
  • Deep clean/organize your space
  • Find an indoor activity space, like a gym
  • Plan to move your body every morning or evening for at least 20 minutes
  • Plan activities based on the weather

It’s important to remember that many of us suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). If you are feeling a lack of motivation the best thing you can do is to stay active and get your Vitamin D levels tested!
